Music Reviews; CYHSY, We Are Scientists, James Blunt

Perhaps one of the most exciting up and comings of the year, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, can be described as anything but another ordinary indie-rock phenomenon. In fact, the term indie-rock is something CYHSY struggles to understand. This is because when it comes down to it, this is a band who truly plays to the beat of their own drum, and rock and roll is the only sound they strive to call their own. For those who haven’t jumped on the Clap Your Hands band wagon just yet, a quick introduction is in order. CYHSY are Alec Ounsworth (vocals/guitar), Lee Sargent (guitar/keyboard), Robbie Guertin (guitar/keyboard), Tyler Sargent (bass), and Sean Greenhalgh (drums).
Since their emergence from Brooklyn in 2005, CYHSY have relied completely on the super-powers of online communication to get their music heard. Now, with over one-million hits and 50,000 friends on Myspace.com, the band continues to be completely self-promoted, even turning down offers from major music labels to represent them. And they wouldn’t have it any other way. So what is it that makes this band so extraordinary to any music lover? Well aside from frontman Alec Ounsworth’s quirky vocal talent, this is one band who have truly given a new name to the meaning behind internet guru.
In my first official out-of-school and into the 'real life' world interviews, I was lucky enough to have a thirty minute over-the phone interview with the man himself; Alec Ounsworth. Here's what

Many CYHSY critics and fans alike have compared their music to that of David Byrne of Talking Heads and Arcade Fire, but until you’ve heard them you wont be able to understand what it is that makes them so unique. So get ready all you hipsters, because Clap is the new black this year and they wont be going anywhere but up. You can expect to see them for their first ever appearance in Boulder on October 7th at the Boulder Theatre down on Pearl
