The world was rocked by a vicious 8.9 magnitude earthquake today, one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded. The quake, which hit the Pacific Ocean just Northeast of Japan at 2:46pm (JST) has triggered a tsunami warning for all countries surrounding the Pacific Ocean most notably Hawaii, coastal areas of South America, Canada, Alaska and California.The tsunami has already killed hundreds of people carrying away ships, homes and cars while triggering widespread fires and rolling blackouts.Police said 200 to 300 bodies were found in the northeastern coastal city of Senda. President Barack Obama pledged U.S. assistance following what he called a potentially "catastrophic" disaster. He said one U.S. aircraft carrier is already in Japan, and a second is on its way.
