Tuesday November 30th, 2010

On Monday Madonna opened the first of her “Hard Candy Fitness” gyms, a 30,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art center that costs a pricey $160 a month for membership.  Madonna was on hand for the opening and even taught a short dance class.  When asked why she chose Mexico City as the first location, the Material Girl explained "I have a history with Mexico.  I have a connection that I have always felt anyways because of my love and interest in Frida Kahlo."  In addition to more gyms around the world, Madonna told reporters that she plans to release both a new album and movie in 2011.

Music stores are stocking their shelves with several new releases.  Hot on the heels of the news that they’ll perform at halftime of Super Bowl 45, the Black Eyed Peas are putting out “The Beginning,” their follow-up to last year’s double-platinum “The E.N.D.”  Flo Rida’s “Only One Flo (Part 1)” features the hit “Club Can’t Handle Me,” as well as guest appearances from Ludacris, Akon, and Kevin Rudolf.  Soulja Boy returns with “The DeAndre Way,” which contains the smash “Pretty Boy Swag;” Soulja Boy recently revealed plans to star in a biopic about his life also called “The DeAndre Way.”  Volume 4 of “Glee: The Music” is packed with 18 tracks from the Fox show, including covers of “Empire State of Mind,” “Toxic,” and “F--- You.”  And on December 4 “Twilight: Eclipse” comes out on DVD.  The third film of the series was one of the summer’s biggest blockbusters, grossing more than $300 million, and the soundtrack has music from Muse, The Black Keys, and Florence + the Machine.
